Sinus Lift

Sinus Lift: A Gentle and Reliable Path to Implant Placement in the Posterior Upper Jaw

In many cases, we can restore missing teeth without a sinus lift — treatment is shorter, and you can receive your final crowns or bridges sooner. Thanks to modern protocols (such as All-on-3, All-on-4, and All-on-6), bone grafting is often not required. However, when the bone height is insufficient for stable implant placement, a sinus lift becomes the safest and most predictable solution: it creates a strong foundation for the implant and ensures long-term stability.

When a Sinus Lift Is Recommended

  • missing 1–2 teeth in the area of the maxillary sinus,
  • naturally thin bone structure,
  • bone loss after extraction or trauma,
  • the need for a stable and secure base for the implant.

When bone volume is reduced, a sinus lift allows us to rebuild it and safely place the implant.

What a Sinus Lift Is

A sinus lift is a procedure in which the surgeon gently elevates the Schneiderian membrane of the maxillary sinus and fills the created space with bone graft material. The graft gradually integrates and forms new bone — a strong and reliable support for the future implant.

Types of Sinus Lift Procedures

Closed (Internal) Sinus Lift

  • Suitable when the existing bone height is approximately ≥ 7 mm,
  • performed through the implant site,
  • minimally invasive, often allowing immediate implant placement,
  • faster healing.

Open (Lateral) Sinus Lift

  • Indicated when the bone height is < 7 mm,
  • access through a small lateral “window” in the bone,
  • allows the addition of a larger volume of bone,
  • the implant is usually placed after 3–6 months (after graft maturation).

Comparison of Techniques

Parameter Closed Sinus Lift Open Sinus Lift
Access Through the implant site Lateral bone “window”
Invasiveness Lower Higher
Implant placement Often immediate After 3–6 months
Required bone height ≈ 7 mm or more < 7 mm
Duration of procedure 30–60 min 60–90 min

Preparation for the Procedure

  • examination and consultation with an implantologist,
  • 3D CBCT imaging (cone-beam CT scan),
  • treatment plan and any necessary oral rehabilitation,
  • pre-operative instructions.

Why Patients Choose Omni Dent Clinic

  • We do not recommend a sinus lift routinely — only when truly necessary,
  • we prioritize minimally invasive techniques and precise digital planning,
  • state-of-the-art 3D diagnostics (CBCT) and certified European biomaterials,
  • the option of treatment under conscious sedation for maximum comfort,
  • a clear treatment plan and transparent pricing.

Is a Sinus Lift Right for You?

Book a consultation — we will assess the height and quality of your bone, explain the procedure, and recommend the safest and most predictable path to implant placement. Our goal is to achieve a result that is predictable, safe, and long-lasting.

How a Visit Proceeds

Синус-лифтинг шаг1

Insufficient Bone Volume

Before implant placement, the doctor performs diagnostics and identifies insufficient bone height in the upper jaw. After tooth loss, the bone in the sinus area may become too thin for safe implant placement.

Lifting the Sinus Membrane

During the procedure, the doctor creates a small access point through the bone tissue and gently lifts the sinus membrane. This creates space for increasing bone volume.

Синус-лифтинг шаг3

Bone Graft Placement

The created space is filled with special bone graft material. It helps increase bone volume and creates a stable foundation for the future implant.

Синус-лифтинг шаг4

New Bone Formation

During the healing period, the bone graft material integrates with the patient’s natural bone. After full healing, there is enough bone volume for safe dental implant placement.
