About Us

Bone augmentation for dental implants

Bone Augmentation: a gentle and effective way to rebuild a strong foundation for your dental implant

Bone augmentation is a procedure designed to restore missing bone in areas where there is not enough volume to safely place a dental implant. By rebuilding the bone, we create a stable and durable foundation for a future crown or bridge, ensuring your smile remains fully functional and naturally aesthetic.

After tooth loss, bone resorption begins almost immediately. Within just a few months, the bone starts to shrink, and after 2–3 years the volume may decrease by as much as 40–60%. Bone augmentation compensates for this loss and provides ideal conditions for successful implant placement.

When is bone augmentation necessary?

We recommend bone augmentation in situations where:

  • the bone does not have sufficient height or width to support an implant,
  • significant atrophy occurred after extraction or injury,
  • the natural bone structure is too thin,
  • a defect formed after implant removal,
  • bone needs to be prepared for a future implant or prosthetic restoration.

Whenever possible, we strive to use the patient’s own bone. When the volume is insufficient, augmentation significantly increases the success rate of implant placement and improves long-term stability.

Methods we use

Simultaneous augmentation

Performed during the same procedure as implant placement. Ideal for minor bone deficiencies. With simultaneous augmentation:

  • only one surgical appointment is required,
  • overall treatment time is shorter,
  • you can proceed to the prosthetic phase sooner.

Staged augmentation

Recommended for more extensive bone loss. The missing bone is rebuilt first, and the implant is placed after healing. Staged augmentation provides:

  • a reliable solution even for large defects,
  • the ability to restore natural contour and volume,
  • better aesthetics and long-term implant stability.

Materials we work with

  • Autologous bone — the patient’s own bone tissue with maximum biological compatibility.
  • Allogeneic grafts — modern bone substitutes with excellent clinical outcomes.
  • Synthetic biomaterials — bioactive granules that support the formation of new bone.
  • Combination techniques — used when additional strength or enhanced regeneration is needed.

Healing time

  • Simultaneous augmentation: 4–6 months.
  • Staged augmentation: 6–9 months.

What bone augmentation provides

  • A stable and long-lasting foundation for a dental implant,
  • restored natural contour of the jaw and gums,
  • reduced risk of further bone loss,
  • better aesthetics and improved chewing comfort.
